The Lewis Group, in our quest to honour our late CEO’s legacy, embarked on a journey to find a suitable scholarship programme, which would be aligned with our socio-economic development strategy and also pay homage to Alan Smart, ex-CEO of the group for many years.

We chose the Kay Mason Foundation as we uphold their holistic approach to developing young children in the best possible way with the support a child needs to flourish in every way, every day.

We are delighted with the progress of our Lewis Group Alan Smart scholars and as we believe in following the development of the student in the long term, we plan to do this for many years to come, watching young adults progress into leaders and successful icons in our communities.

Access to good quality basic education in South Africa is way out of reach mainly due to a broader basic education system that is seriously challenged. Investec through its Corporate Social Investment (CSI) division has partnered with the Kay Mason Foundation to offer some of their talented high school learners with great academic potential and financial need, bursaries to study at some of the country’s best high schools. 

Through our relationship and engagement over the years, we have found the Kay Mason team, to be professional at all times. We have observed and appreciated their dedication, genuine passion, and care for our learners. Their work continues to positively impact many in desperate need of such academic, moral and social support – giving them a fair chance at life. Given our positive experience in working with the Kay Mason Foundation, their nimble, entrepreneurial spirit and flexibility, we would not hesitate to recommend them as either a partner or a champion in bursary provision.
