Aluthando Apaka attended Bosmansdam High School from 2017 to 2021.

Currently, she is a full-time student, completing her first year Bachelor of Social Science at the University of Cape Town.

Aluthando is majoring in Sociology and Political Studies.

She received a full scholarship throughout her high school career and the KMF programme has also given her opportunities to volunteer within her community.

“From 2017-2019 I also volunteered and helped my aunty to clean homes, where she worked as a domestic worker, and I volunteered at Nikki’s day-care in Parklands.

“The Kay Mason Foundation has impacted my life and in giving back what the foundation has given me has given me the opportunity to explore my passion.”

The impact of the KMF Bursary on Aluthando and her family

“The Kay Mason Foundation scholarship assisted my family and I tremendously.

“The KMF went beyond financing my academics, they were of emotional support too. They willingly extended themselves and made themselves available.”

Aluthando says the Foundation lessened the financial burden of the expensive school costs.

“When I was really struggling, the Kay Mason Foundation provided me with excellent tutors when my parents couldn’t afford it.”

She says she really enjoyed the workshops, especially the time-management and the different intelligence classes.

Aluthando is a mentee with a KMF partner, Releasing Eagles who specialise in mentorship and coaching for the next generation of industry leaders in our country.
